Why We Switched from Bamboo to Acrylic Lids

At Nakayah’s Cozy Corner, even the smallest details matter, including the lid on your favorite cup! When we first began offering our 16 oz Libbey cups, bamboo lids felt like the perfect match. They were cute, natural, and fit beautifully with the cozy aesthetic we love.

However, as we continued creating and using our cups, we realized bamboo lids were not always the most practical option for everyday use.

Because bamboo is a natural material, it can absorb moisture over time. It also requires extra care to prevent staining, warping, cracking, or other moisture-related damage. Even when properly cleaned, bamboo lids need to be dried thoroughly and should never be left soaking in water.

We want our products to be more than adorable; we want them to be easy to enjoy, too. That is why we made the switch to acrylic lids.

Acrylic lids are durable, reusable, and easier to clean and maintain. They do not absorb moisture like bamboo, and they pair beautifully with the colorful, playful designs that make our cups special. They also give us more opportunities to add fun details, including our rhinestone lid options for anyone who loves a little extra sparkle.

While every reusable cup still deserves gentle care, acrylic lids make that care much simpler. For us, the change was an easy choice: fewer maintenance worries for you without sacrificing the cute and cozy style you love.
